Boost Your Metabolism

Would you like to boost your metabolism?  We all know getting more physical activity will have the biggest impact on increasing your daily metabolism. Here are some other great tips from the Jenny Team to boost those calories being burned:

Small Frequent Meals

One of the best ways to keep your metabolism working efficiently is to eat small meals every 3-4 hours. Eating frequently may prevent overeating later in the day. Additional benefits to small frequent meals include: increased energy levels, a better regulation of blood sugar and blood insulin levels, and increased absorption and utilization of nutrients.

Metabolic Thermostat

Your thyroid acts as a metabolic thermostat. The gland releases hormones that play a major role in controlling your body’s temperature and the rate that your body uses energy and burns calories. Choosing complex carbohydrates instead of simple ones provides long-lasting energy and may  help your thyroid work better . These foods include fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes and whole grains.

Building Muscle

The number one consumer of calories in your body is muscle. The more muscle mass you have, the more your body works toward burning calories. A great way to build muscle is by incorporating weight resistance exercises. This tones your body to be more lean and muscular.
