Post-Marathon
See? I’m already exaggerating. It was a half-marathon, not a full one. So Tom and I ran only thirteen miles at our race last month, not twenty-six.
But, hello…thirteen miles?
I was looking back at my journal and was reminded of when I could barely run to the stoplight by our house. There was NO WAY, I could ever run this kind of race, I told Kathy and my trainer Christopher. No way. But they just smiled and supported and continued to do what they do so well…they challenged me. (If you haven’t figured me out by now, I love a challenge.) So Tom and I did it! I was so happy I cried at the end - it felt so good to cross that finish line! It was like being in a movie, but without the acting. It was REAL life…a real accomplishment. I owe Jenny for that. (And you, too, Chris!)
So now I run three-to-five miles without even thinking about it. Ok, I’m exaggerating again…it’s not THAT easy. But I’m almost fifty and, Hey, a 5K, you say? Bring it on.
On another personal note, Wolfie is touring with his dad again this year. Wolfie is officially an adult!!! Which means that I am officially an (uninvited) stalking stage mom again who can run like a bat out of…heck, now. So watch out, fans. He’s still mine!!!
xo,
Val
