Summer Flashback
Hi guys! It’s me, Val. Tom has been writing for the last two weeks and I’ve missed you! So I decided to take over this week…sorry Tom!
Ok, so now you know who does most of the cooking in our house. Tom is truly a master in the kitchen and, coming from me, that’s a big compliment. It’s also a necessity with all the kids and their friends home for the summer. I remember last summer was a little stressful with all the snacks, the sodas, and the huge portions required for growing teenagers. It was like Tom and I were always trying to be ultra-conscious of how our meals fit in. Should we eat together as a family? Or separately, in order to avoid temptation? But this summer is a breeze. First, there are no sodas and unhealthy snacks in our house (Duh, right?), and second, we’re just changed eaters. We don’t even think about portions anymore — the “right things to eat” are simply ingrained in our heads. We can walk right by a pizza and think nothing of it. So that’s been a huge relief for me. Because I still get that voice in my head from time to time. Like, when is my bubble going to burst? When am I going to blow it?
But I just don’t think it’s going to happen. At least, it better not. Not while I’m back in high school!
