Going for More 06/07/2010
Week 28
OK, so this week I started work on "The Loft" (the independent film I’m starring in) and I was crazy busy. The good thing is that I knew I was going to be busy because that’s how movie shoots are… especially ones where you’re in almost every scene. So I worked 12-14 hour days all week and I didn’t have all that much time to think about anything else. So, how’d it go with the weigh in? Um, pretty great. I’ve now lost a total of 45.8 pounds*! Now, you may be wondering — how did I do so well when I was so busy? The answer: planning ahead. Since I knew in advance that I was going to be super busy, I made sure to have my days planned before the craziness started. Each morning, I had all of my Jenny food for the day with me on set and I would just eat my meals and snacks when we had our breaks. I would also add some fruit or steamed veggies from catering if available and, if not, I had some from home ready as a backup. It all worked out great… like some mastermind had figured the whole thing out beforehand. Yes, that’s right, I’m a mastermind. And what would happen when I got home from set? Well, I would sit down on the couch for a little bit, eat my Jenny Cheesecake (yep, every night), go over the next day’s lines with my fiancé and then go to bed. That’s my new strategy: plan ahead and be so busy that you have no free time to make poor choices. I’m sure some of you are already following that plan.
Now, I did actually have the weekend (actually, it was Sunday and Monday) off so I wasn’t completely without free time. So what did I do on Sunday? Um, I met up with Christopher Ross Lane (who trained Valerie for her marathon) and ran six miles… in a row! This is getting nuts. SIX MILES?! Who does that? Well, probably a bunch of crazy people, but it sure as heck has never been me. I mean, I don’t run super fast, and I’m not pretending that it’s a cakewalk for me, but the amazing thing is that I’m doing it! Now, I started running these distances because I was hoping to run a half-marathon with Valerie in July, but I just found out that Valerie has a work conflict so we might have to do a later one. Yet, in the meantime, I’m still planning on keeping up my running because the truth is that I kinda like it! In fact, I may just do the half marathon on my own… or maybe I can entice Christopher to come to Napa with me (lots of great wine there).
After the run, I decided it was time to treat myself to something so my fiancé and I went out to dinner at this little restaurant we like. And I’d run six miles a few hours before so you might think I was entitled to splurge a little… but I didn’t really. I had wild salmon and veggies and we split a delicious antipasti plate with pickled zucchini, heirloom tomatoes and a quinoa/sugar snap pea salad: all delicious and all healthy. And it was what I wanted and we had a great time and it made me happy! How cool is that? I decided I deserved a splurge dinner and I didn’t even want to splurge…. OK, I did have a glass and a half of wine, but that’s hardly splurging! (Especially since I decided to skip my JC cheesecake that night to allow for the wine…)
Keep writing me on the Rue Crew, peeps — by the way, make-up is a GREAT non-food reward. THANK YOU FOR THE TIP!!!!
Peace,
Sara
