Hi everyone, hope y’all had a great weekend. I wanted to talk this week about one of my health tips…using a pedometer! I think everyone should put it on their Christmas list this year. When I was using one over the summer…I was amazed at how some days I thought I was walking a lot more steps than I really was, and on other days it was really easy to get 20,000 steps. The experts say we should all aim for 10,000 steps a day. It’s pretty easy for me to get those steps in when I am playing a lot of basketball, but on the off days I have to challenge myself to get to get those steps in. This time of year, when I’m doing a lot of holiday shopping, I will try parking in the furthest spot away from a store entrance and always take the stairs instead of the elevator. This should help me (and you) get those steps in. Another way to stay motivated to move more is to get a pedometer for a family member, someone you work with or a friend and then you can have competitions with each other to see who can get the most steps in a day or a week. Get creative with ways to keep moving and staying fit. — BD
