Well, I have been tonight and am starting tomorrow, and I have along way to go, I just need encouragement at the moment, as does everyone who starts a slimming programme.
I am from the Gold Coast in Australia, and would love to hear from anyone who has advice on how to stay motivated.
Thanks, Wendy

Hey Wendy!
I began the program yesterday and it is VERY hard. I am looking at several weeks of no social life due to the reduced drinking/ eating out. I had to turn down plans already...but I am pretty determined to lose the 30 pounds I paid for! I probably won't be the best buddy, as I am in the States, but since we started the program about the same time, maybe we can exchange ideas, and grievances, together. I am 29 years old, a high school English teacher (although you may not be able to tell from this e-mail- see sentence ending in preposition above); I love music and I love to travel. As a matter of fact, I was in Australia in 1999. One of my best friends lives in Sydney. I spent most of my time backpacking Queensland. Had a blast! I was in pretty good shape when I got home, but unfortunately, my social life picked up considerably, and I began teaching. I'm getting married in October. I'm not one of those women that feel this dire need to lose weight in order to look good in their wedding pictures...I just know that I need to change my habits before my weight gets out of hand. I gained 30 pounds in 3 years...that's quite a bit for me. If you want to be my "buddy" (ahhh! how sweet!). Send me a message!
Chat soon!

Hi, Terri,
Well, my first day actually was pretty good. I have been on JC before about 7 years ago, and although it was tough I made it through to my desired weight, so here goes again.
I am 40 years old and a Projects Coordinator, which involves sitting at a computer all day, I am sure that is why by rear has spread so much, lol.
Glad to be your support buddy, and I am sure that the distance will not be to hard, as we both want to achieve the same result. Yes, going out with friends is really hard, having to say no to a drink, no to the snacks etc, but all I need to do to make sure I do not indulge is to take a glance in the mirror at my jelly belly and take a big breath and walk away, to get a glass of water!!!! I think for every kilo I lose I will give myself a treat, like buy some makeup, or a new book, or cd, just something to give me something to look forward to,
chat again soon, good luck
wendy

Hi Wendy
I'm another Wendy, and I'm from Canberra. I started JC 15 weeks ago. I have lost 9.1kgs to date. Not the quickest loser, but I'm getting there. My goal is to lose 27kgs. My motivation has wavered a little bit over the last couple of weeks, but I am getting closer and closer to getting into my old clothes and that keeps me going. I've started buying size 16 clothes again, it feels great after buying size 18-20 for the last couple of years. I'm even proud of seeing the size 16 label. (no more cutting it off before my boyfriend sees it). Anyway, hopefully we can chat and motivate each other.
see ya

Hi Wendy,
just checking in to see how your first week is going. Week 5 is going well for me but I have afamily roast turkey dinner extravaganza to negotiate tomorrow. I know it will be hard but I am determined to get through it (it's my weigh-in the next day so I don't want to overindulge!!).
Hi to Canberra Wendy . We are losing at a similar rate and I can't wait until I've lost as much as you - you go girl!!
Cheers,

Hi to everyone,
Wendytl - I am also on the Gold Coast and doing JC through the Tweed Heads centre. I hope you have been enjoying the program so far and have had success! Persevere with it as it is definately worth it. I have been on the program for about 20 weeks now and have lost about 22.5kg. I moved to the Gold Coast from Sydney a week ago and one of the first things I did was make a JC app and join a gym up here- certainly a change in priorities from five months ago! I still have about 25kg to lose, so a bit of a journey yet, but am confident it will happen. Stick with the program, although some days are more difficult than others and although I don't always drink all of my water or walk as much as I should, I know I am doing a wonderful thing for my health and my confidence, not to mention the thrill I will experience when shopping for clothes at Pacific Fair when I achieve goal! Hope you have a fantastic week, bye for now,
Rachel

Hi there - my name is Emma and I am in Melbourne - I did JC a couple of years ago and lost close to 20kgs but left before maintenence (bad move!). It took a couple of years for the weight to come back on but it has, mainly because I got lazy and back into old habits.
I decided to go back on JC as I am a lifetime member and had over the last 12 months, tried Atkins, Light and Easy and Xenical tablets (yuk!), but to no avail. For some reason JC just works for me, I think it has a lot to do with the weekly one on one consultation.
So here I am on week one with about 20 - 25 kgs to lose again and I have to say I feel pretty good - I went out and invested in a somewhat old exercise bike so I can exercise in winter without getting cold.
I hear you on the eating out/ socialising problem, but last time around I would eat JC dinner prior to going to the restaurant to meet my friends and would only have my bread / veggies, coffee and maybe a glass of wine with them. It isn't really "going out to dinner" but, it is better than staying at home every weekend! I also went out for drinks once a fortnight with my friends rather than having a glass of wine here and there during the week and going out every friday/saturday.
The thing I am finding challenging this time around is that I have married since being on JC last time - so now I have to deal with someone else's food in the house and a husband who orders Pizza Hut at midnight (ohhh the aroma!). Last time I was living by myself and there were no tempting things in the house whatsoever...
So anyway - I just wanted to say hi and tell you a bit about me etc. I'll pop in from time to time as it is good to read others opinions.
Take Care
Emma

Oh, Yeah, I know where you are coming from...we were heading off to the beach on Friday PM and we stopped for our normal "going to the beach dinner" of ...KFC...!!!!
In the car, with people munching fries, burgers and fried chicken...AAAAGGGGHHHHH. I drank water and ate an apple. It just wasn't the same.

hey Linda,
I survived the dinner!! I had a very sensible portion, no seconds and no dessert. plus 1 glass of wine. And I had a loss the next day - yay! I have now lost 5.7kgs total and am starting to notice it a bit in my clothes.
How are the rest of the Downunder girls doing??
Cheers,

Hey there all,
Its me - back from ? and beyond!
I WAS on JC last year and used to post "heaps" - then I got glandular fever and had to stop. Then started up again this year and it got so very very expensive plus my counsellor wasn't overly stimulating. B/coz I live out in the boonies and we don't have a JC office here at all I would just receive phone calls. I really didn't get anything out of the phone calls and started to resent even talking with the counsellor because she had absolutely nothing new to say to me. I was, in fact, getting more out of coming into this website and talking with the many friends I made here - mostly from USA and Canada. It was terrific and I managed to lose about 8 kgs.
BUT.....! Since then I have lost 2 more kgs - and then put on 3 kgs. Still doing okay but am not actually on JC at the moment. I told my counsellor it was too expensive (a nice way of saying byebye to her)!
Although I'm not actually using JC food I'm still keeping up with all the good habits - plenty of water, exercise - portion size and MUCH LESS ALCOHOL! (ouch).
We're a pretty socialable bunch (esp when watching NZ play Aussie in rugby) and so the plonk flies, the nibbles are excessive etc etc etc. I have really supportive friends who would like to be as strong as I have been lately - in saying NO to that extra glass of vino.
One thing I've done - and its working is to cut right down on the carbs. I have NOT been having bread (or very little) and am noticing the difference.
Just wanted to wish you all the best and "keep on moving" is all I can say.
My dh and I are off to the Sunshine Coast on the 16th of this month - I can't wait to make a huge pig of myself on PRAWNS - oooooh. We're hiring a car and going to just "cruise" - if you have some exciting suggestions for things we MUST SEE you Gold Coast gals - please let me know okay>???
all the best till I c'mon back here in the future....
